Harry Potter Party Theme

Create invitations on parchment paper with caliigraphy.  For unique invitations, create a Daily Prophet front page on a computer announcing the party.  Ask friends to come dress as wizards or characters from the books.  Costume ideas include Harry, He Whom Must Not Be Named, Hermione, Ron, Dudley, Dumbledore, Draco Malfoy, or any other character.  Other great ideas are werewolves, dementors, ghosts, witches, and  wizards.

Transform the party space into Hogswarts with paintings, gothic decorations, candles, pumpkins, and books on magic spells.  Post a Hogwarts sign outside the front door.  Place a cauldon for mixing spells and creating potions in the center of the room.  Recreate the sound of Moaning Myrtle with a recording. To liven up the mood, add black and gold balloons and streamers. 

Wizard hats make great centerpieces for each table.  Then sprinkle star-shaped confetti around the centerpiece.  Harry Potter tableware is available online or at party supply stores.  

Play a game og quidditch with Harry Potter toys.  Magic wands, Harry Potter books and movies, and toys make ideal party favors.  See who knows the series the best with a Harry Potter trivia game.  Then watch the films while enjoying snacks.
