Indian Party Theme
For a unique cultural experience, plan an Indian party.
Colorful fabrics and patterns set the tone for the festivities. Drape fabrics over furniture, and place embroidered pillows throughout the room. Light incense and candles for a relaxing atmosphere. Decorate with streamers, balloons, and paper lanterns in the colors of the Indian flag: yellow, white, and green. Journey to India with a Taj Mahal backdrop, travek books, and large photos.
Guests should wear traditional Indian clothing in colorful patterns. Women often wear sari (draped linens) and men wear dhoti or lungi.
An Indian feast should consist of plenty of vegetable dishes. Many traditional dishes also may include chicken, goat, and lamb.
Dance to traditional Indian music and hire an Indian dancer to teach some classic folk dances, such as the bhanga of the Punjaba and bihu of Assam.
India is also the place of origin for yoga, so take some time to relax and practice it with guests.
