Pirates of the Caribbean Party Theme

Ahoy Matey! Plan the perfect party theme with these ideas:

Create authentic-looking pirate treasure maps by tearing the edges off of brown parchment paper. Sponge the paper with brown ink  for an aged look, and mark the location of the party with an "X."

Organize a dinner cruise with a local company. Or, transform your home into a majestic pirate ship. Use red, white, and black streamers, balloons, pirate tissue paper garland, and paper lanterns. Line the walkway leading to you ship with bamboo torches, pirate pennant flags, fake bones, and skulls.  Display a large pirate flag to signal the location of the party ship.  Hang a fish net and attach fake fish, lobsters, and crabs. Buy and old wooden chest and fill it with fake gold coins, pearls, and jewelry.

Tell guests to come dressed in pirate or wench garb. This includes gold earrings, an eye patch, peasant shirt, red or black skull cap, pirate pistol, waist sash, bone gloves, etc.  Captain Hook or Jack Sparrow costumes are also available online.

Share pirate treaure with guests by handing out gold chocolate coins as party favors in loot bags.  Fake tattoos, inflatable swords, bandannas,  and telescopes also make great party favors.  Buy a pirate pinata and fill it with treasures, like pirate skull lollipops.

Watch "Pirates of the Carribbean" or another pirate movie for entertainment. Invite Jack Sparrow to come by purchasing a cardboard cutout for photo opportunities.

Serve a feast consisting of salad, beef roast, Cornish game hens, mashed potatoes, and mixed vegetables. Make a buried treasure snack mix with trail mix, dried fruit,  goldfish, and nuts. Wash it down with beer or wine in large mugs.  

Use a fake skull as a centerpiece and scatter gold coins, skull confetti, and seashells on each table.  Place a fake skeleton on a chair on one of the tables with a sign that warns, "Dead men tell no tales!"  Order pirate cups, dinner plates, bowls, and napkins for the party.
