'80s Party Theme
Travel back in time to the '80s: a time when there was no such things as too much eyeliner, eyeshadow, or blush; no such thing as too much Aqua Net on your bangs; and no such thing as too many bracelets. Send out '80s invitations to an '80s prom.
Wear puffy '80s style prom dresses, or dress in colorful '80s clothing, such as fingerless lace gloves (a la Madonna), stockings, off-the-shoulder sweaters, legwarmers, and black leather pants. More ideas include big scrunchies, tight-rolled jeans, hats, colorful slap bracelets, belted t-shirt dresses, and lingerie as a top. Guys wore high top Reebox, and acid wash jeans. Go for Olivia Newton John's look in the "Let's Get Physical" music video. Or, go for Michael Jackson's look in the '80s. Mr T. was also a 1980s icon with his funky hair do, gold chains, and personality.
Glam up your party space with old cassette tapes as decorations or party favors. Place colorful balloons and streamers throughout the space. Create nostalgia with old popular movie posters like "Dirty Dancing" or "Sixteen Candles."
The Rubik's Cube craze began in the '80s, so hand them out as party favors.
Entertain guests with a break-dancing contest or performers. Younger guests will enjoy playing on an old video game system, with classic '80s video games like PacMan, Frogger, Donkey Kong and Asteroids. A game of Trivial Pursuit or '80s trivia is great for older guests.
Relive high school prom by playing '80s music videos on a screen. Rent a karaoke machine and belt out classic '80s tunes. Have a blast talking like "Valley Girls" all night long.
